Rob Kent - Kent Exports

"There will be good volumes available in February of the large yellow/brown varieties"

Rob Kent moved from Australia to Singapore with his family a year ago to be closer to the markets which his company, Kent Exports supplies.

“I have been very pleased with how our first year has gone in a challenging and dynamic market due to ongoing global pressures. The SE Asian market has been good, but not as busy as pre-pandemic. I expect conditions to considerably improve this year.”

Rob exports many products from Australia and other markets into Asia, and Australia’s onion season is about to commence meaning there is good availability to supply all markets globally.

“I work very closely with some of Australia’s leading onion growers and there will be good volumes available in February of the large yellow/brown varieties. The price for onions remains strong in Australia’s domestic market is strong so it will be interesting to see where the pricing will sit for the export market.”

Kent Exports and their growers send good volumes to Taiwan – last year sending in excess of 5,000 tonnes - and they hope to increase that this year. Rob said that there have been good enquiries the past few weeks from buyers in UK and Europe.

As well as exporting to Taiwan, Rob is active in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Korea, and has recently started dialogue with the Philippines to supply onions due to their shortage.

“We are looking forward to exporting good volumes on behalf of our Australian growers and supply our customers with a premium quality product.”
