Australia: Strong Christmas demand for carrots

It might surprise people to learn that carrots are being incredibly sought-after this Christmas. Aldi supplier and Zerella Fresh farmer Nico Nel said the week before Christmas, carrots see a spike in demand: “From now until Christmas Eve, Aussie families are busily buying carrots from Aldi. In the week before Christmas, we see a 25 per cent increase in demand for our carrots.”

This might be caused by the fact that, apart from the need for carrots in Christmas lunches, the vegetable is also a popular snack for Santa’s helpers. “We know that Santa’s reindeers’ favourite snacks are carrots and Santa’s reindeer are particularly spoilt during their stopover in Australia,” Nel told adelaidenow.com.au.
