Start of Xixia kiwi harvest

Zespri experts research Chinese kiwi market

On the 16th of September, Zespri board members Nathan Flowerday and Paul Jones visited Chenggu county to research the local kiwi industry. Yang Bingjie, the county deputy, accompanied the visitors. The team made a field trip to a local cultivation base and discussed technologies and possibilities for collaboration.

At the same time the kiwi harvest has started in Xixia county, a large kiwi producing region in central China. In Xixia there are 730 hectares of kiwi orchards and an estimated 2,500 hectares of wild kiwi. Annual kiwi output is estimated at around 500 million Yuan.
