Satisfactory Tang Gold tangerine campaign

The Tang Gold tangerine campaign at PO Agricor from Corigliano-Rossano (CS), owner of the Gallo brand, ended with a 30% increase in production.

"The demand for this late variety that becomes available after PGI clementines was lively. We started on January 25th and ended one month and ten days later, one week earlier than 2022 despite the fact that quantities were almost one third higher. Thanks to our cultivation methods and to our mission, i.e. respecting nature and its cycles, we harvested tasty high-quality fruits. We were among the pioneer of zero residue, so we do not perform weeding nor other processes that force plants. The favorable weather helped us as well. All this enabled us to offset the skyrocketing costs," reports Natalino Gallo, president of the PO.

Op Agricor quadrupled its sales of organic Tang Gold in Austria compared to one year ago, but organic citrus fruits did well in Italy too. "We only focused on the existing client network this season." The PO also met the demands for zero residue tangerines.

The clementine campaign was more complex
"Despite the problems, especially at Christmas, the volumes of our clementines increased by 6-7% and the turnover did as well thanks to the high quality of the produce, helping us face the increase in costs as much as possible. However, production margins inevitably decreased."

The citrus fruit campaign at OP Agricor will continue until May
"Now it is the turn of late Navel oranges, a segment that we are following with more and more attention compared with the recent past, as it enables us to prolong commercialization by over two months and reach April. As for May, we are focusing on new citrus fruit varieties."

"So far, it has been an intense yet satisfactory campaign compared with the bleak forecasts of late 2022. However there are still new projects and opportunities. We are already looking at the next campaign with the aim of improving our already-high quality. The objective is to provide the maximum satisfaction to clients and consumers."
