European funds drive expansion of Malta’s FNG Supplies

The Minister for European Funds, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, together with the CEO of European Services in Malta (SEM), Rodrick Zerafa, visited the new facilities of FNG Supplies Co. Ltd in Rabat.

FNG Supplies, one of Malta's main importers of fruit and vegetables serving restaurants, hotels, and food establishments, received about US$108,000 in European funding under the Business Enhancement scheme.

The company invested around US$217,000 to relocate its operations from Wardija to a larger site in Rabat. The investment covered the installation of a new cold room, an electric lifter and stacker, and infrastructure upgrades to improve product quality protection and operational efficiency.

Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said the project reflects how European funds are being used to help Maltese businesses expand and modernize. "This is an investment not only in businesses, but also in workers and the Maltese business community. The Government will continue to strengthen these schemes so that more Maltese businesses can invest in technology, energy efficiency, and the modernisation of their operations," he said.

SEM CEO Rodrick Zerafa added, "It is of great satisfaction for SEM to see such investments from European funds from businesses of all kinds. These investments show that with our help and the commitment of various business owners, European funds are translated into modern and sustainable practices that benefit consumers."

The visit highlighted how the European Union supports small and medium-sized enterprises in Malta by financing projects focused on expansion, diversification, and innovation.
