Between November 2024 and June 2025, Egypt exported 610 tons of mandarins to Estonia, valued at US$717,000, according to EastFruit. This volume is three times higher than the total exports in the previous marketing year and eight times greater than in MY 2021/22. The average annual growth rate over the past three marketing years reached 100%.
Mandarins are Egypt's third most valuable fruit and berry export category after oranges and frozen garden strawberries. During the current marketing year, Egypt exported mandarins to 65 countries. While Estonia is not among Egypt's top destinations, such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil, or the United Kingdom, shipments to Estonia contribute to total export growth and geographic diversification.
Spain remains the main supplier of mandarins to Estonia, accounting for between 50% and 75% of total imports, with Egypt, Morocco, Italy, and Greece competing for the remaining share. In the current marketing year, Spanish shipments declined by nearly 30% compared to the same period in the previous year, opening opportunities for other suppliers.
Mandarin imports to Estonia typically peak in December, but Egypt's largest shipments occur between January and March, when other major suppliers scale back. In January and February 2025, Egyptian mandarins held 30% of Estonia's market share, increasing to 55% in March.
Egypt surpassed Morocco and Greece in market share during this period, setting a new record for exports to Estonia. Alongside mandarins, Egypt continues to export oranges and lemons to the Estonian market.
