After a challenging start to the Egyptian sweet potato season, supply has finally caught up, meeting the already strong demand, says Rayan El Sawy, Chairman of fresh produce exporter Egyptian Emirati Import & Export: "Recently, the situation with sweet potatoes has improved significantly, particularly in regard to the quantities and sizes ordered. We were able to export the required quantities to our customers on time and are currently preparing the next shipments to our customers throughout Europe. Last month, there was very strong demand and even a shortage in the required sizes, but now all the quantities and sizes are available for export."

With sufficient supply and demand at a stable level, it's smooth sailing for the Egyptian exporter at the moment, El Sawy explains. "At the moment, the sweet potato season is in calm waters, as demand is strong and supply is plenty. We owe a lot to our transparency and credibility that we've built up among our existing clients, who know that they can count on on-time delivery. We believe current prices are very reasonable for all parties as well. As we know, global prices are usually high at the beginning of the season, and then gradually decrease to a certain level. However, they will usually slightly increase again towards the end of the season."

El Sawy is looking forward to the start of October, as they'll be exhibiting during Fruit Attraction in Madrid: "For us, the most anticipated event is coming up soon. And we're very happy to say that we'll be participating in Fruit Attraction as exhibitors. It'll be our pleasure to welcome all current and potential clients. We work closely with some of our clients to set fixed seasonal pricing through secondary contracts that we apply across all our products, and hope we can show this to people during the event."
