Wholesale fruit and vegetable prices UK - Week 23:

Blackberries and asparagus prices surge, raspberries decline

In a recent analysis comparing the previous week's average prices to the current averages for various fruits and vegetables, there are notable changes across the board. Blackberries have experienced a significant increase, with the previous week's average price at £9.26 per kg, rising to a current average of £12.21 per kg. This marks a substantial growth in the pricing of blackberries, indicating a potential shift in market conditions or changes in supply and demand dynamics for this fruit.

Meanwhile, the price of Conference Pears showed a modest upward trend. The previous week's average for these pears was £0.67 per kg, while the current average stands at £0.81 per kg. Although the increase is not as pronounced as with blackberries, this price rise may reflect seasonal variations or gradual changes in consumer demand.

Conversely, raspberries have encountered a decrease in their average price from last week to this week. The previous week's average price was significantly higher at £15.99 per kg, while the current average has dropped to £12.90 per kg. This decline indicates a shift in pricing trends possibly linked to variations in supply, climatic influences, or changing market preferences. In contrast, asparagus saw an upward movement in its average price, from £10.08 per kg the previous week to £11.39 per kg this week.
