Cherry season has begun in Uzbekistan's Fergana region, where early varieties from the Kuva district are now being harvested and prepared for export. According to regional officials, cherries from Fergana are in high demand domestically and abroad, prompting efforts to improve packaging and logistics.
The region exported around 15,000 tonnes of cherries, with major buyers including Russia, China, South Korea, Lithuania, the UAE, Poland, Ukraine, Belgium, and neighboring Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in 2024. Local authorities have deployed plant quarantine inspectors to help farmers meet export standards, and customs support has been strengthened at border checkpoints.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's dried fruit exports are also showing strong performance. In the first quarter of 2025, the country exported 12,045 tonnes of dried plums worth \$16.3 million, according to national statistics.
China was the largest importer, receiving 6,500 tonnes, followed by Russia (2,100 tonnes), Kazakhstan (1,900 tonnes), Belarus (357 tonnes), and Turkey (240 tonnes).
