The Dresden-based fruit and vegetable retailer Macoo GmbH has to undergo a reorganization process. The company has fallen into an economic crisis due to increasing consumer reluctance to buy, as well as cost increases and the loss of many small customers, said managing director Marco Henschke in an interview with local media. However, lawyers see a good chance of preserving the 80 jobs. "The workforce and important customers, partners, and suppliers are loyal to us. We will use this strong support for the reorganization," said Henschke.
"The business has a healthy core. The first decisive steps towards stabilization have already been taken," explained lawyer Stefan Ettelt from the law firm Kulitzscher & Ettelt. He supports the company as a general representative. Macoo GmbH is one of the leading fruit and vegetable companies in Eastern Germany and operates several branches in almost all major cities, including the main location in Dresden and branches at the wholesale markets in Berlin and Leipzig. In May 2019, the company was taken over by Marco Henschke and Jessica Becker-Henschke.
