The Hauschildt family fruit farm has been in Jork since 1570. In 2016, Patrick Hauschildt took over the heritage of the traditional farm. Three years ago, he started building a new picking hall, which is scheduled for completion in 2024. "The old packing plant will be abandoned in favour of a new operation, although the fruit farm in Wisch will continue to exist. At the new location, we will now have an area of 4,500 sqm at our disposal," Hauschildt informs us. "Of this, just under 800 square metres will be used as refrigerated space directly adjacent to several loading ramps. In addition, there are several refrigerated warehouses in which more than 3,500 large crates, corresponding to about 1,200 tonnes, can be stored temporarily.
In addition, the company is able to handle up to 50 per cent more goods per day thanks to the newly available automated complete solution. "At our fruit farm in Wisch, we can sort about 100 tonnes a day. In our packing plant, both apples and pears are packed on nine lines. In the process, a lot of goods from other farms in the Alte Land are also bundled with us."
In addition to classic foodtainers in units of four and six, the company offers a wide range of different packaging formats as well as bags and nets. "However, the trend is increasingly towards solid cardboard packaging. About half of the packaging that is marketed is cardboard."
