Euro up after comments made by ECB President Lagarde

Dollar index dropped as new economic data surfaces

The dollar index dropped yesterday after a host of economic data releases indicated the US economy remains resilient and may not be close to a recession. At the same time, after comments from European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde, the euro strengthened.

The dollar retreated further after data showed new orders for US-manufactured capital goods unexpectedly rose in May.
