Russia: Sticky traps installed in greenhouses of the Udmurtia area to monitor pest population

June 2023, the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Kirov Region, the Udmurt Republic, and the Perm Territory installed 780 sticky traps in the greenhouses of JSC TK Zavyalovsky, LLC DCC, Flowers of Udmurtia, Lilia and IP Head of the KFH Nelyubin V.V., which are manufacturers of flower and vegetable products in the territory of Udmurtia.

Greenhouse farms grow vegetables (lettuce, cucumber), flower and ornamental crops, and supply the trade organizations of the republic and other regions of the Russian Federation.

The installation of sticky traps is carried out annually to monitor previously identified populations of pests and for the timely detection of outbreaks of dangerous quarantine pests.

In 2023, it is planned to install 2,250 of those sticky traps on the territory of Udmurtia. And 100 pheromone traps in greenhouses, nurseries, perennial fruit, berry, and forest park plantations, as well as processing and storage spaces (warehouses, grain processing enterprises, elevators).

Upon completion, the traps will be sent for phytosanitary examination to laboratories subordinate to Rosselkhoznadzor.

In the event that quarantine objects are found, the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration will take all necessary measures aimed at localizing and eliminating the identified quarantine pests.
