In 2022, it accounted for 37.2% of Anecoop's stone fruit sales volume

The Region of Murcia is Anecoop's main stone fruit supplier

The Frutas y Citricos de Mula cooperative brought together a wide representation of Anecoop stone-fruit-producing partners at its headquarters on Wednesday. It is an internal meeting that the second-degree cooperative holds every year to lay the strategic foundations for the current campaign. Nearly 80 people participated in the meeting, including producing partners from Murcia, Valencia, Seville, and Lleida, and Anecoop professionals from their different offices and subsidiaries.

Before the meeting, the attendees visited the modern facilities dedicated to organic products that Frucimu launched at the end of 2021. The 30,000 square-meter facilities include processing facilities, green areas, parking lots, and roads.

The mayor of Mula, Juan Jesus Moreno Garcia opened the day by thanking Anecoop for choosing the city to launch the stone fruit campaign. He also encouraged the partners and professionals of the second-degree entity to obtain prices that motivate farmers to continue betting on their activity, working, and growing.

The president of Frucimu, Miguel Angel Navarro, who is also the vice president of Anecoop, highlighted the importance of the Region as an agricultural area. “Murcia concentrates the largest share of stone fruit production nationwide, along with the Ebro Valley and Extremadura. These meetings contribute to giving visibility and spreading the wealth of our productions, as well as establishing the role of the Anecoop Group as a hub that offers products from different Spanish production areas.”

In 2022, the Region of Murcia was the leading producer of stone fruit in the country, accounting for 37.31% of the national production of peaches, nectarines, apricots, and plums. It was followed by the Ebro Valley, which suffered a significant drop in harvest, with 30.03%, and by Extremadura with 23.20%.

Murcia was Anecoop's leading stone fruit supplier, accounting for 37.2% of its stone fruit sales volume in 2022. It was followed by the Ebro Valley (24.53%) and the Valencian Community (20.5%).

Between 2021 and 2022, Anecoop experienced a 27.60% decrease in the marketing of stone fruits mainly because of weather issues, which led to a significant drop in the harvest, and the growth experienced by the rest of the producing countries.
