Kuala Lumpur issues 33 temporary licences for Chinese New Year bazaars

Kuala Lumpur City Hall officials have approved 33 temporary permits for traders in conjunction with Chinese New Year. A spokesperson from the Licensing and Business Development Department said 72 applications were received, but only 33 approved based on the suitability of the locations.

“Out of the 33 applications, 13 are for selling mandarins, while the others are for items like prayer paraphernalia, food and flowers. The trading licences will be effective from Jan 9 to Feb 5. Operation hours are between 10am and 10pm. The trading locations have been vetted by a committee, including officers from each DBKL branch, prior to approval,’’ added the spokesperson.

Retailers in the city have reported brisk sales.
