Austria's leading chicory processor files for insolvency

Klimesch Group agricultural group on the brink

Klimesch Group Ltd, based in Burgenland, Austria, has applied for a restructuring proceedings without self-administration. The agricultural group also includes subsidiary Agrar Heiligenkreuz Ltd, which produces flowers and vegetables, including year-round chicory, for the domestic market on more than 40 hectares.

"This year, there were significant and unplanned price increases, but these could not be passed on." There had been "extreme increases" in transport and packaging costs, the Kurier quoted from the insolvency petition.

The goal is that the company will continue functioning. Creditors are being offered a quota of 20 percent, payable within two years.
