Ultimatum for construction of Munich wholesale market hall

Many millions of euros still needed

Hardly any progress since the spring of 2020. A long list of questions to be clarified for the contract to build the new Munich wholesale market hall. This is the current this state of affairs. This is why the coalition from City Hall is issuing an ultimatum to the private partner for one of the city's most important and spectacular construction projects.

"We have lost one and a half years. Waiting any longer is not acceptable for us. We expect resilient statements by the end of the first quarter of 2022 at the latest," mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) told the Süddeutsche Zeitung on Wednesday.

Anna Hanusch, parliamentary group leader of Greens/Rosa List, stressed that "all the facts must be brought together, answering the question: Is completion foreseeable for the new Grossmarkthalle or not?" If there is no clarity by March, the City Council might pull the emergency brake, halting the project.
