Koen Dierckx of Ekotrax in Belgium about new quality label and traffic jams

"Something positive might come from the corona crisis"

The Belgian Ekotrax family business got its QS label last week. "We're very proud to receive this label," says manager Koen Dierckx. "The label's a unique German label. It stands for high-quality assurance of fresh food. We have many German customers. By carrying the label, we can distinguish ourselves from other transporters. We're one of the few Belgian transporters that have it, and we're delighted with that."

Investing in quality standards, providing information to its clients, and automation. Ekotrax put a lot of effort into these things. "These are difficult and uncertain times. That's due to the global corona crisis. That's why we're currently focusing on what we have already built up. We're investing our time in improving the organization. We're not such a big company. But that makes us very flexible. We have fast response times, and we deliver what we promise."

“We have ten trucks and 30 trailers. We drive to 15 European countries, mostly to Belgium's neighbors. We can count retailers and trading companies among our clients," says Koen. "To grow even further internationally, it's vital to show that we guarantee the best quality, certainly in corona times. That's why we've been IFS certificated for years. And now we also have the QS label."

“In recent years, time frames have shifted to nights and early mornings. That's due to traffic jams. Now, because of COVID-19, there are almost none. That's one of the few positive things the virus has brought. Even after the crisis, we have to keep thinking about the logistic process. Perhaps we can get something positive out of this crisis," concludes Koen.
