Dubai-based airline Emirates is expanding its cargo operations in Kenya to meet rising export demand for perishable goods such as fruits and vegetables.
In 2024, the carrier transported 16,000 tons of Kenyan produce to the UAE, Europe, and other destinations, reflecting the country's growing role as a regional export hub. Christophe Leloup, Regional Director and Country Manager for Kenya, said the expansion aligns with Kenya's trade ambitions and export growth strategy.
Additional cargo capacity is expected to support Kenya's horticulture and floriculture sectors, which rely on fast and reliable air freight to maintain product freshness and market access. The increased logistics flow also coincides with Kenya's Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE, which aims to strengthen trade ties and improve export competitiveness.
