UK banana prices - week 25:

Banana prices down up to 11% from Latin America

Banana prices declined across several Latin American suppliers this week, with Colombia, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua all reporting lower average prices compared to the previous week. The figures reflect modest but consistent downward trends.

In Colombia, the average price per kilogram fell from £1.01 to £0.96, a decrease of £0.05 or roughly 5%. Costa Rica recorded a similar trend, with prices dropping from £1.04 to £0.96, showing a weekly change of £0.08, equal to an 8% decline.

Nicaragua experienced the sharpest drop among the three countries. The average price fell from £1.04 to £0.93 per kilogram, representing a £0.11 decrease, or an 11% decline compared to the previous week.

These shifts contribute to a broader downward trend across the dollar-sourced banana group, where the overall average price dropped from £1.04 to £0.96, marking a 6% decline.
