In an effort to enhance mango production in Isabela, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Queen Isabela Mango Producers Cooperative, alongside various government entities, have initiated a campaign to encourage off-season mango harvesting. This initiative was highlighted during the Mango Summit and the inaugural Mango Off-Season Harvest Festival in Santiago City, aiming to boost production, guarantee a continuous supply, and improve the livelihood of mango farmers in the region.
Markson P. Tan, PCCI Southern Isabela president, emphasized the chamber's dedication to offering technical support and sharing knowledge on off-season mango cultivation to uplift the local mango industry. Government agencies, including the Department of Agriculture Region 2, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Science and Technology, and the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority, have also pledged to back the mango farmers by imparting technological advancements and expertise in areas such as capacity building, marketing, and processing.
DTI Isabela Provincial Director Ramil Garcia regarded the summit as a pivotal moment for the stakeholders of the Isabela mango sector, marking a significant step towards industry growth and development. Furthermore, FMC Philippines presented a comprehensive guide on off-season mango production.
