A significant drop in fruit and vegetable imports was noted in the Kuzbass region of Russia

Experts have highlighted a substantial reduction in the import of vegetables and fruits in the Kuzbass region. Fruit and vegetable imports in the Kemerovo region have nearly halved over the past year.

In December 2023, Kuzbass imported 621.3 tons of produce from abroad, almost half the quantity recorded in December 2022. Interestingly, compared to November 2023, there was a 6% increase in the volume of imported goods.

According to the press service of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) for the Republics of Khakassia and Tuva, as well as the Kemerovo region, a significant portion of the imported non-quarantine produce originated from Kazakhstan, totalling 578.7 tons. The goods included onions (393.6 tons), carrots (73 tons), potatoes (30 tons), dried fruits (27.5 tons), cabbage (20 tons), and apples (16.2 tons).

Additionally, 42,667 tons of quarantine produce arrived from Kyrgyzstan, featuring 25,285 tons of nuts, 6,767 tons of dried fruits, and 1.05 tons of fresh berries.

No quarantine objects were detected in the imported produce recently.
