Farmers' cooperatives sell 92.9 tons of pineapples

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 (DA-RFO2) has assisted farmers' cooperatives and associations (FCAs) to sell 92,9 tons of pineapples to institutional buyers in the Philippines. Region 2 DA-AMAD chief Rosario Paccarangan said this was a result of the implementation of the market linkage program of the DA between pineapple growers in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) and local and institutional buyers.

Paccarangan said there were at least six associations of farmers from the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, and Nueva Vizcaya that were given the opportunity to sell their pineapple products. In Nueva Vizcaya, the Amballo South Agricultural Pineapple Growers Association of Bagabag town sold 15,5 tons to AgriNurture Inc. in Bulacan.

In Isabela, the CaviteƱo Isabelino Agricultural Coop of Echague town stepped up its sales after the Hilas Marketing Corp. of Taguig City, AgriNurture Inc., FCAs and national government agencies bought a total of 50,1 tons of pineapples.
