Bangladesh vegetable exports drop by 62.72 per cent in three years

Bangladesh’s vegetable exports slumped by 62.72 per cent in the past three years due to lack of adequate cargo space and shortage of scanners in the country’s airports. The exports of vegetables had continued to decrease since the financial year 2020-21 as the shipment of the items remained suspended for few months due to the pandemic.

Bangladesh’s export earnings from vegetables in FY23 decreased to $61.14 million from $164 million in FY20, according to Export Promotion Bureau data. The data showed that the country’s vegetables exports in FY23 decreased by 38.80 per cent to $61.14 million from $99.91 million in FY22.
