Export of agricultural products from Punjab saw a dip of $567 million between 2017-18 and 2021-22, while it rose in neighboring states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh during the same period.
There was an export of agricultural products amounting to $1,545 million in 2017-18 from Punjab, but thereafter, exports registered a continuous decline from $1,402 million in 2018-19 to $1,267 in 2019-20 and from $1,161 million in 2020-21 to $978 million in 2021-22. Products are exported to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Kuwait, Vietnam, the US and the UK.
Sharing this data in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Union ministry of commerce and industries informed that India's total agricultural products' exports increased from $38,881 million in 2017-18 to $50,208 million in 2021-22. Gujarat was the highest exporter of agricultural products worth $ 9,228 million in 2021-22 followed by Maharashtra ($ 8,370 million ) and Andhra Pradesh ($ 6,439 million).
