"Currently the market has insufficient demand for mangoes"

Most of the imported mangoes in the Chinese market come from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. In China, most of the mangoes are produced in Hainan, Panzhihua, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places, and the production seasons vary from place to place. "Affected by the macro environment this year, the consuming capacity is insufficient in the market, and the sales volume is not as good as expected. Recently, after the pandemic prevention measures have been gradually relaxed, the number of people with fever and colds in various places has increased, and the demand for mangoes has declined again." Ms. Zhuang Xiaoyu from Beijing Xinghuirong Trading Co., Ltd. said to Freshplaza.

"In the first half of this year, the import transportation of mangoes was mainly by sea, and in the second half, more land transportation was used. In the first half of the year, due to the pandemic, the shipping schedule was unstable and the transportation time was long, which affected the quality of mangoes. It was the same situation last year. The volume of imports was not much. Since the adjustment of pandemic prevention measures at the end of last month, symptoms such as fever, cold, and sore throat have appeared in lots of people in many places. In China's eating habits, mangoes are believed to easily cause discomfort such as inflammation and sore throat, so sales have dropped significantly compared to the same period in the past. Last year, the sales of domestic mangoes were good, while those of imported mangoes were not ideal, but the current volume is only half of that of the same period last year. "

"Most of the imported mangoes this season come from Vietnam and Cambodia. The quality of the current arriving products is better than in previous years, but the lack of consumption capacity and demand has led to slow sales." In addition, Xiaoyu also mentioned that in terms of domestic mangoes, the output of Hainan mangoes is stable and has started to increase.

The peak season for mango sales generally starts in March. In terms of production season, according to Xiaoyu, the mango production season in Vietnam and Cambodia is from November to June, in Hainan, it is from October to June, in Panzhihua it is from May to December, and in Guangxi, it is from June to September. The company can basically achieve a continuous supply of mangoes throughout the year.

Beijing Xinghuirong Trading Co., Ltd. focuses on importing and domestically producing mangoes. Its sales channels are wholesale markets and supermarkets in the three eastern provinces, Hebei, Shandong, and Inner Mongolia.
