In the past ten years, 70% of the apples on the Chinese market have been Fujis. This has resulted in a concentrated maturation time and fierce competition. In recent years, with the increasing production of Fuji apples, the sales pressure has gradually increased. In this context, many so-called new varieties of apples have also sprung up.
New varieties such as Ruixue, Ruixianhong, and Venus Gold from Japan have become the new favorites in the apple market. The average purchase price of these varieties this year is as high as 12-14 RMB per kilogram, and the purchase price of high-quality fruit has reached 30 RMB per kilogram, much higher than the price of ordinary Fuji apples of 4-6 RMB/kg.
Ruixue is a high-quality, late-ripening, yellow variety newly bred by the School of Horticulture, Northwest A&F University, but it is not as golden and dazzling as Venus apples, and its color is more "yellow-green".
Ruixue is a late-ripening apple, about 7 days later than Red Fuji. But in terms of flavor, the flavor of Ruixue apples is more inclined to the flavor of "early ripening Granny Smith apples". At present, there are not many high-quality late-ripening yellow apple varieties in China, and Ruixue is one of them.
Compared with other apple varieties that pay more attention to appearance than flavor, the "new taste" brought by Ruixue apples is more attractive to consumers. The overall popularity of Ruixue in the market is high in the northwest region, and the eastern production region is still relatively low.
