Raju Shetti, President of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana;

'Bring onions and grapes under Minimum Support Price'

In an attempt to shield grape and onion farmers from exploitation, Kolhapur farmers union Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana has requested the federal government to bring onions and grapes under the scope of Minimum Support Price (MSP).

According to Raju Shetti, President of Sanghatana, onion and grape farmers are often exploited or are subjected to market manipulation, adding that no mechanism can provide stability to them as the provision of market intervention has not yielded expected results.

He urged the government to bring grapes and onions under MSP as it will provide higher remuneration to the farmers and would put a check on exploitation by traders.
