Kiwi berries have become more and more popular in the Chinese market in recent years but it is still a minority fruit. The kiwi berry is rich in nutrients and has a unique appearance. This year's harvest season is about to begin and Mr. Fan Jinming of Chengdu Future Agrow Co., Ltd. recently shared his analysis of the kiwi berry growing conditions this season:
"Several weeks ago, when the trees were in bloom, we used bees to pollinate the kiwi berry flowers. We apply organic methods to provide our clients with healthy products. The product quality looks promising this year. We therefore have the highest hopes for the harvest this season. However, we are aware that the outbreak of Covid-19 has a serious impact on the industry. We expect the price of kiwi berries to fall slightly below last year's price level. However, it is more important to us to sell and deliver our kiwi berries."
"The flower season is already over. The berries are slowly growing. The harvest season will come a few days early this year. That is because the weather is quite warm already, which is good for the development of kiwi berries. We are keeping a close watch on the predicted volume of rainfall in the next few weeks, because this may still have an impact on the overall production volume."
Kiwi berries are still a relatively new product in the Chinese fruit market and growers still need to invest in research and development to produce even better varieties for the Chinese market.
The Mei Mei team is specialized in the production and supply of kiwi berries. As Mr. Fan Jinming explained: "Some parts of our orchard are devoted to experimental plantation of new kiwi berry varieties, which helps us improve our product. Our overall production volume remains stable at the same level as last year, but we continue to innovate and improve our kiwi berries. Research and development is important, in particular for a relatively new fruit like the kiwi berry. Innovation is key. We work hard to supply a top-quality kiwi berry and further develop our share of the Chinese market."
