Citrus, apples, and pomelos become main sales forces

Fruit market in China ushering in "winter mode"

After stepping into December, cold snaps have been making frequent appearances. As the temperatures drop, fruit sales have also entered the "winter mode". Citrus, apples, and pomelos become the main sales forces of winter fruits. The sales of fresh fruits have been slower, but frozen fruits have ushered in their peak sales season.

Since November, apples, pears, and oranges have been leading the way in sales, and the prices are very affordable. Apples are a lot cheaper this year than the last, with promotional products sold at 2-2.5 yuan/ half a kilo in many supermarkets or fruit shops, and those with higher grades sold at higher prices of 5-10 yuan/half a kilo. In some roadside stalls, small sizes with not appealing appearances are only sold at 1.2 yuan/half a kilo.

At the same time, oranges, an important winter fruit, have also been selling well, priced at 2.5 to 5 yuan per half a kilo. Prices of ya pears, nanguo pears, snow pears, and apple pears remain at the same level as in previous years. Right now, seasonal fruits are flooding into the market, championed by pomelos. Pomelos on the market at the moment are mostly produced in Fujian, mostly packed individually. It is reported that this year's pomelo sales are particularly good. Not only are there many varieties and good quality, but the supply is also sufficient.

Current fruits on the market are mainly apples, oranges, pomelos, pears, and bananas. As large volumes are flooding into the market, bringing sufficient supply, prices are stable with slight declines. Industry insiders said that historically, the fruit market becomes slightly sluggish in the winter, the main reasons being the cold weather and reduced consumer demand. However, with New Year and the Spring Festival approaching, sales are expected to increase substantially.
