Woolworths sends plane with 15 tonnes of relief goods
Australia: Supplies for flood-stricken Mount Isa
Australian supermarket giant Woolworths sent a plane carrying fresh food and supplies into the city of Mount Isa - Queensland - yesterday when it was clear the town was left partially isolated by floodwaters.
The retailer airfreighted 15 tonnes of fruit, vegetables, meat products, baby nappies and baby formula into the city.
Much of Queensland has seen record rainfall in the last week, with several towns completely cut off. A spokesperson from Woolworths told 9News.com.au the supplies came as part of the company’s emergency relief plans aimed at providing assistance to those in need.
