South Africa: Tru-Cape fights good fight for hearts, minds and tummies of children

Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing, the largest marketer and distributor of South African-grown apples and pears, is working hard to draw children away from sugary drinks and fast food to rather eat more healthy fruit and vegetables.

Managing Director Roelf Pienaar says that the company is repeating the extremely successful 2013 Tru-Cape Kidz figurines promotion, exclusively with retail partner Checkers. We are hoping that the promotion will increase sales dramatically. We are also expecting that there will be greater uptake this year as the mechanics are easier than before.

“From August 24 until September 6, depending on stock availability, the Tru-Cape Kidz Characters, Dino Delicious, Perry Packham, Topsy Red and Danny Smith will entrance children and encourage healthy consumption”, he says.

The promotion, placed into about million 1.5kg Tru-Cape Happipacks, will be supported by a television spot, in-store radio, point of sale displays as well as leaflets in the bags that explain the mechanics of the competition: collect the scratch cards for all four figurines and then redeem a set of the figurines.
