"Willem van Rooij: "We run away from large amounts which saturate the market"

Hispalco start with Spanish stonefruit, Galia and watermelons

Spanish company Hispalco have started with the Galia and watermelon season. As with every year, the company specialise in the Monna Lisa and Unicorn brands. "To define us on the market and price competition, we are convinced that we should only place value in the quality and taste of product," explains Willem van Rooij. "We stay away from large amounts which saturate the market and create price wars and promotions. We chose tasteful, high quality products, which can be then packaged as such."

The first cargoes of Spanish stonefruit have also been carefully loaded, and the Monna Lisa and Unicorn brands between May and June are followed with French peaches and nectarines, packaged under the La Joconde and Unicorn brands. "French peaches and nectarines are appreciated on the European market for their taste, variety and durability," said Willem.

"The outlook for the season is positive. We have the possibility to offer earlier varieties with good sizes in a cardboard box of 40x30x9. This packaging is easy to handle and suitable for the end consumer."
