Quantities are as normal and the quality is reported to be very good.
Mariya Dermendzhieva from Pop Frutta says the company is expecting more international trade this year:
"We expect the export to grow this season as we expand into new markets and find new customers."
Mariya says watermelons and melons are two of the companies main European export products. She said, "Our main markets are Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia."
She explained that the produce was widely distributed in these countries. "We supply to both wholesalers and supermarket retailers, including Kauflow and Metro cash and carry in Bulgaria and Billa Romania in that country."
Mariya said that the company took pride in the quality of their produce and that this, along with the taste, was its distinguishing characteristic.
She said that the varieties available were:
Watermelons - Obla, Crimson Tide, Farao, Galaxy, Sugar Baby, Samanta (Barela), Grimson Sweet and Tropical.
Galia - Prima, Supra, Thrakiotika and Mikas.
