"Bryansk Orchard" in Russia to launch the largest fruit storage facility in April

Located in the Kletnyansky District, the "Bryansk Orchard" is set to unveil Russia's largest fruit storage facility by the end of April. The first phase of this high-tech storage unit, with a capacity of 18,000 tons, is nearing completion. The apple market in Russia has seen significant growth, with fresh apple sales increasing by 24% from 2019 to 2023, reaching 2.2 million tons. However, the lack of fruit storage facilities has posed a challenge to agricultural profitability.

In response, the "Bryansk Orchard" company is addressing this deficit by investing in modern storage capabilities. According to Vyacheslav Kobets, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GK "MBK," the motivation for this investment stemmed from the need to prevent fruit spoilage and capitalize on seasonal price increases.

This new fruit storage facility will not only be one of the largest in the country but also one of the most advanced. It employs controlled atmosphere storage techniques with low oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, extending fruit ripening processes and significantly prolonging storage periods.

Located in the Kletnyansky District of the Bryansk region, both the fruit storage facility and apple orchards benefit from favourable soil and climatic conditions. The intensive orchard technology, with 3,500 trees per hectare, was studied in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of the Republic of Serbian government.

With the launch of the fruit storage facility, the Bryansk Orchard aims to extend storage durations and ensure a steady supply of raw materials for its processing lines.
