Driscoll's expand towards Middle-East

Since the merger between Alconeras and Berryport in January 2011, Driscoll's have continually been expanding. The company is now ready to take the next step by integrating the activities in the Middle East and Africa in its organisation. This also includes a change of name. From now on the firm will be called Driscoll's of Europe, Middle East and Africa, of which Theo Houwen will remain managing director.

The new area is very favourable geographically and in addition offers possibilities to arrange new forms of cooperation, as the Middle East is close to the present production areas of Driscoll's in Morocco, Egypt and South Africa. Originally customers in the Middle East were normally supplied via the U.S. Driscoll's can now supply this area via its Moroccan, South African and European production areas. The most important focus will be on the growth of the trade in the Middle East by further expansion of the sales.

No direct consequences in daily work are expected from this expansion for Driscoll's growers and customers. This new structure is a big step for Driscoll's and links up with its mission to have consumers enjoy soft fresh fruit in all seasons.
