The first Oronules were loaded from Spain yesterday and will arrive in the UK on Sunday. This is a very exclusive clementine, as its season lasts only 20 days.
“It is the first premium Spanish clementine of the season,” explained Jack Hanson Director at Fountain Fresh Imports. “There is a good level of production of Oronules this year, sizes are starting small but bigger fruit will be available in the coming days. We will have the first boxes available from Sunday for distribution all over the UK.”
This clementine is sweet and seedless, and it is an expensive product. There are only two other varieties of leafy clementine available just now - the Marisol and Orogros varieties. According to Jack these are not as sweet and not as easy to peel as the Oronules.
““In twenty days’ time the market will change with the arrival of the better-known Clemenules, this is something a little special early in the season. Clemenules will continue to the end of January followed by Herdandina’s. Fountain Fresh Imports will have a constant supply of the USIA brand throughout ."
