October is Oregon Kiwiberry season

Oregon kiwiberry season is here and suppliers are saying to get them while they last. Harvest officially started in early October near Umpqua, OR, located a few miles off of I-5 between Eugene, OR and Roseburg, OR.

"Kiwiberries are bite-sized, highly aromatic and delicious," said grower Curry & Company. They also pointed out that unlike their bigger cousin the kiwifruit, no peeling is required. The smooth, green skin is edible, which suppliers say makes it easy to eat out of hand.

Curry & Company said its kiwiberries are versatile as well, and suggest to toss them in salads or yogurts, or chop them up and add to recipes. Fruit smoothies are also an option. They can be used when fresh while in season, and then stored in the freezer to be enjoyed for longer than the short season.
