The first Italian fields of the early Maxim® persimmon – planted in 2016 – are already giving the first results.
Maxim® is a variety of the Genesis Exotic group, and Comercial Gallo is the only dealership in Italy. The variety is patented, with a limited number of crops for the Italian territory.
It is a variety of unique characteristics able to differentiate itself from all the other varieties of persimmon on the market.
Maxim®, 18 months old plant
In Italy, this persimmon can already be harvested in the first half of September. The most peculiar characteristic of this fruit is that it can be eaten directly from the plant without any post-harvest treatment.
Maxim® fruits have a good shelf-life, which allows them to reach the market for fresh consumption without any problems.
Like every early variety available in the Comercial Gallo catalogue, Maxim® covers the harvesting periods in which there are no other varieties and the fruit demand is high - thus offering a good chance of income to farms.
The fruit has an orange colour and a spherical shape, a tough pulp and a good size – with an average diameter of 70/80 mm and a weight of 250/300 grams.
These plants produce a lot of fruits, the ripe plants with a density of 600 plants per hectare produce 45.000 kg of fruit ca., with a step-by-step harvest of about 15 days.
