Continuous rain causing damage to Spanish stone-fruit
Spanish growers happy with late rain

Tholen - Rain has been falling in almost the entire area of Spain since the beginning of May. Fruit growers have welcomed this as they have just experienced an extremely dry period lasting some months. In Catalonia the dams are slowly filling up again. Although for many rain is only a positive, there are also growers who experience damage as a result of the weather. Growers of nectarines and cherries in the production area of Valencia suffered quite some damage as a result of the heavy rainfall and even because of hail here and there. Growers of asparagus and citrus in Andalusia have benefited from the rain, but here as well cherry growers were not too happy with the profusion of rain.
