Typhoon stops ships in Hainan Straits, Hainan vegetable prices rise

Shipping in the Hainan Straits temporarily came to a stop on August 9th as a result of a typhoon. As it was unclear when shipping would resume and when new supplies would arrive, Hainan vegetable prices increased.

Vegetable transport has become more difficult as a result of the closed off Hainan Straits. Both the losses and labor costs increased. The wholesale prices of vegetables in Hainan universally increased on August 14th. The prices of lettuce, cabbage, and Chinese cabbage increased by 41.18%, 18.18%, and 18.18% respectively in comparison with the prices on August 8th.
