The BIO berry trays are made of wood pulp and are not only protected against shock damage, but also have a moisture-regulating effect, ensuring that the berries stay fresh for longer. Wood pulp as a material is also a natural product: very finely ground wood shavings are mechanically compressed for this purpose, without the addition of any chemicals. Thus, the product is completely biodegradable and yet durable.
Sustainability in every detail
Since Wertpack GmbH focuses exclusively on B2B customers, the quality must of course be very high. Therefore, the materials specifically protect the packaged food from dirt, cold, heat, light, moisture and shock. At the same time, the look of the packaging solutions is at least as important. Customers from the gastronomical sector attach as much importance to design as both retailers and the food industry. Nonetheless, sustainability is the top priority, which is why so much attention is paid to environmental compatibility, especially with regard to details such as colouring and adhesives.
Since the company was founded in 2014 Wertpack GmbH has offered ecological packaging - in addition to the organic berry trays there is a whole range of palm leaf tableware. This relatively new solution shows how attractive green packaging can be. Besides, palm leaf has its own advantages: The grain is always unique, it has no taste, and is completely degradable. That makes it particularly well suited for the packaging of fruits and vegetables.
Constant updating of the product portfolio
The material is obtained from the Areca palm. The palm leaves -up to 2 meter long- are collected during the dry season and the dishes are pressed out of the whole leaves. Only the highest quality leaves are used. The others are recycled and used as biofertilizer and as fuel. In addition, palm leaf is water resistant and needs no artificial coating or additives.
In order to be able to continuously offer the most up-to-date ecological packaging, the product range is constantly kept up to date and expanded if possible. In addition to the materials mentioned above, the firm is constantly on the lookout for sophisticated packaging alternatives, trying to meet the growing ecological demands.
