Sigfrido Fruit inaugurates new facilities and expects to reach 14 M€ in sales

Sigfrido Fruit, a firm specialized in the marketing of avocados, mangoes and aromatic herbs, plans to grow this year by around 40% in terms of volume and exceed, by far, the figures for the year 2017, when it sold about six million kilos of avocado and more than 600,000 kilos of mangoes. To this end, the company has just launched new facilities in the Costa del Sol-Axarquía Tecnoalimentario Park, in an industrial complex built on a 4.500 square meter plot with a useful area of 2,800 square meters.



The company has allocated some two million Euro to the construction of its new facilities, which will generate around thirty new jobs. With this, the current workforce will increase to over one hundred workers.

The facilities have several cold and ripening chambers, a pallet turner and a state-of-the-art calibrator that has several packaging lines. "This launch is a result of our continued growth in recent years, with annual rates of up to 45%," said its director general, Sigfrido Molina, during the inauguration.



The Malaga-based company recorded more than 10.5 million Euro in sales last year; after the launch, that figure is expected to increase by 31% and reach 14 million. The director general is in favor of a sustainable growth combined with an expansion of the product range; "something that we'll be able to achieve with the new facilities."

Thus, they are finalizing the launch of Avoo Roll, a brand intended for ecological and organic products. Moreover, the new equipment and packaging lines will allow the company to reach customers "who could not be reached before due to the lack of the necessary certifications."



Founded in 2013, Sigfrido Fruit maintains a remarkable balance between national and international sales. In fact, this department accounts for 51% of sales, with France as the main destination, "since it has a great demand for subtropical products." It is followed by Italy (with growth in full swing), Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany. "The countries of Eastern Europe are also giving a boost to the demand."

With the launch at the Costa del Sol-Axarquía Tecnoalimentario Park, Sigfrido Fruit has taken a step forward and placed itself at the level of major operators of subtropical products, such as Trops, Montosa, Reyes Gutiérrez and Tropical Millenium. In addition, it helps in the consolidation process of Spanish avocado and mango marketers in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga.



In addition to marketing these two products, the agri-food company has its own production spread over more than 100 hectares of land, as well as another ten that are currently being planted; a move that will allow it to safely continue meeting the market demand.

Lastly, Sigfrido Molina pointed out that "the fruit, for the most part, is of local origin (referring to the region of La Axarquía), so everything we do ends up generating employment and wealth for the province."
