Nanjing: summer fruit price at lowest point in five years

People are able to afford summer fruit at the Nanjing Market because the supply volume is large. Many kinds of fruit enjoyed an abundant harvest in the first half of this year and the overall fruit price is at its lowest point in five years.

Purchasing traders suffered relatively heavy losses in the first half of this year because the wholesale price of fruit was low. As a result, they have become more careful with their purchasing behavior and now buy fruit in smaller volumes. This makes fruit farmers uneasy and many of them have lowered their prices. This is the reason why the overall fruit price remains low. The average price in recent years shows that the fruit price in Nanjing Market has never fluctuated this much. In the last five years only 2014 and 2018 stand out.
