Austria continues to be an important buyer of Ukrainian apples

Ukraine exports most of its apples to Austria and its two neighbouring countries Belarus and Moldova. This was reported by the agricultural Ministry of the Eastern European state.

Tripling of export volume
"In the 2017-2018 season, Ukraine exported 3.2 times more apples (40,900 tons) than the year before. In the 2016-2017 season, apple exports were only 12,800 tons. Ukrainian apples are largely exported to Belarus, Moldova and Austria," the statement said.

Earlier, reports on the project of the EU Representation in Ukraine on the prospects and benefits of Ukraine's free trade zone with the EU (UpenEU) stated that the Ukrainian apple export set a record in the 2017/18 season within the last 5 years. Exports to the EU in particular amounted to 11,632.5 tons. The largest importers included Austria, Hungary and Sweden.
