China: Jujube prices soars

Common open-field jujubes generally ripen and enter the market after October. We are now in the middle of the hot weather when greenhouse jujubes reach the peak of their sales season. Their early arrival on the market led to a sudden price increase. The most expensive jujubes are currently 10 times more expensive than the common open-field jujubes that will appear on the market later this year.

Farmers say that greenhouse jujubes are grown without the use of insecticide, chemical fertilizer, or other additives that influence the color or flavor of the jujubes. These jujubes fill a gap in the market when they enter the market in June. They allow jujube-lovers to enjoy their taste even in the hot days of summer.
