Indiana Troopers find 1 million dollars worth of marijuana stashed with lettuce

Indiana State Police managed to seize 260 pounds of marijuana during a routine commercial vehicle inspection in Putnam County early Wednesday morning.

A tractor-trailer was stopped by an Indiana State Police trooper as it was traveling  eastbound on Interstate 70 around 7:30 a.m.. The truck was hauling a load of fresh lettuce from Colorado to Florida.

While inspecting the truck, the trooper noticed several "criminal indicators." When the trooper started searching the trailer, he found 260 pounds of hydroponic marijuana concealed within a load of fresh lettuce.

On the streets, the marijuana has an estimated value of $1,000,000. The driver, Jorge Blanco-Diaz, 33, and co-driver, Adan Labanino Delacruz, 40, were both taken into custody. Both men are preliminarily charged with dealing marijuana.

The incident remains under investigation.
