Pineapple market changes after Qingming Festival

The pineapple season is almost over in China and a lot has happened on this certain market when you look at price circumstances, volume dynamics and the output this year. To understand these happenings better, FreshPlaza spoke to an international trading enterprise called Shenzhen Adhoc Trading Co., Ltd. One of the many products this company imports and exports is pineapples. “We mainly help our customers import pineapples from Taiwan. This season began in March and will somewhere end mid-July. This is also the time we began to import them for the Chinese market. Our main goal of our services is to enable Chinese customers to eat fresh fruits from all over the world and make other countries able to eat the nice fruits from China.”

“Marketing at the beginning of the pineapple season was very good, the price was very stable and it was a good price to start with. Furthermore, the quality of this season’s pineapples was also very good compared to last year. Then the bad weather influenced the output and quality last year. So, this year the output was also much larger than last year. However, after the Qingming festival in April, pineapples from the Philippines and Hainan also entered the Chinese market and caused an oversupply which influenced the pineapple price negatively. Not all prices were affected, the retail price kept quite stable, but the wholesale price went down.”

“We also have our logistics company, Shenzhen China progress int’l forwarding co., ltd., which was founded in year 2004 and now is specialized in Fruit logistics services. As an original member of WFLA we have obtained plentiful experience in cold chain logistics all over the world. The World Fresh Logistics Alliance has its members located in Asia, Europe, Australia and South America, it plans to become the international logistics base for import and export agent, reefering, quarantining and customs clearing, aiming to provide fruit traders an easiest whole chain logistics solution.”

Shenzhen Adhoc Trading Co., Ltd will this year also attend the Asia Fruit Logistica exhibition in Hong Kong, which takes place from 5 to 7 September, their booth will be located in Hall 3d/U37.
