Ecuador prepares its international mango congress

The Ecuadorian mango will, once again, be the center of attention this August. Guayaquil will receive for the seventh time the best experts worldwide at the International Mango Congress, an event that aims to present the latest technological advances in the production of this fruit.

Cultivated mainly in the province of Guayas, the Ecuadorian mango stands out for its excellent quality and flavor. The guild dedicated to export this fruit has approximate 5,500 hectares registered in full production. In the 2017-2018 campaign, the country exported 13,685,119 boxes of 4 kilos of mango, 1% more than in the 2016-2017 season. It should be noted that the mango economic activity (both in the harvest and in the post-harvest) offers jobs to women between September and December each year, a time when the movement of jobs is low in the agricultural sector.

As part of the promotion of the fruit, the Mango Ecuador Foundation will organize this year the VII Mango International Congress, a benchmark for the international industry and a magnificent meeting point for producers, marketers, importers, and scientists.

DATE: AUGUST 30 AND 31, 2018
TIME: 9:00 AM TO 6:00 PM
Location: Hotel Oro Verde Guayaquil, Oro Verde Great Hall

This edition will bring together 14 leading industry specialists in their respective fields, from countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Honduras, Spain, Peru, and the United States.

The event will deal with different topics, such as nutrition, diseases and pests, the increase in mango exports (the success of the fruit industry in Chile), and the mango market in the United States, among other topics.
