The Taizhong City Government Agricultural Bureau explores new export destinations on behalf of fruit farmers. They actively expand the marketing channels of Taizhong agricultural products. They recently set up a trial export of 2,160 kg of red dragonfruit to Toronto, Canada, with the support of trade companies. The shipment departed from Gaoxiong on July 11th and arrived in Toronto where the fruit was further transported to chain supermarkets.
Trial export of red dragonfruit to Canada
The Agricultural Bureau pointed out that the weather has been stable this year and the production volume of red dragonfruit is large. First-grade red dragonfruit sold for 100-120 yuan [14.95-17.94 USD] per 0.6 kg last year, while second-grade fruit sold for 40-50 yuan [5.98-7.48 USD]. The wholesale price of dragonfruit only reached 20 yuan [2.99 USD] per 0.6 kg this year.
